VAWS: Extreme Precipitation and the Blue Economy around Chugachmiut

Speaker: Jessica Cherry, NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI)
Cherry will discuss the history and impacts of extreme precipitation in Seward, Valdez, Cordova, and Kodiak, and connections to the maritime economy and infrastructure. Implications for a changing climate in these communities will also be discussed. This talk serves as a scientific companion piece to an essay forthcoming in the Alaska Humanities Forum Magazine.
