Focus Area: Small Grants Program
Supporting climate resilience and adaptation, one grant at a time
ACCAP's supplemental small grants program provides funding to statewide and regional non-profit organizations that serve Alaska communities. The goal of the program is to enhance capacity for community resilience and preparedness by supporting efforts to develop local leadership, share relevant scientific information and create a process for mutual learning. The small grants program is funded in collaboration with the U.S. Arctic Research Commission and NOAA Arctic Research Program.

- Develop leadership for addressing challenges related to extreme weather events and other hazards
- Increase awareness of ACCAP products and services
- Build relationships and mutual learning
- Provide access to the most relevant scientific information in an understandable and useful format

Copper River Native Association
CRNA plans to hire three full time students in summer positions to provide training for solving local challenges.
Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council
YRITWC plans to develop tools and provide resources to communities working on flooding and emergency preparedness plans.
Chugach Regional Resources Commission
CRRC plans to continue their pathogen and contaminant sampling and workforce development programs.

Copper River Native Association
CRNA hired a coordinator to focus on mitigation and adaptation, as well as projects that improve the climate resilience and preparedness of Copper River Valley communities.
Chugach Regional Resources Commission
CRRC supported an assessment of climate effects on marine ecosystems, marine mammals and local users. This information will help update resource management plans and other adaptation needs.
Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council
YRITWC supported a climate resilience coordinator to enhance the resilience of Yukon River Watershed tribal communities by developing capacity to proactively adapt to changing water resources.
Kodiak Area Native Association

KANA supported the development of a locally-based and regionally-driven Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy focused on energy, fisheries, agriculture, food security, broadband, mariculture and tourism. They also continued an ongoing water quality monitoring program.
