Deepening engagement through assessment
Sustained assessment is a supplemental program at ACCAP that deepens engagement with communities, develops networks to share information, delivers climate science and services to support action, and works with communities to monitor and evaluate processes.
Sustained assessment activities at ACCAP:
- ACCAP staff coordinated and contributed to statewide engagement activities including:
- Led communications for the Alaska chapter of the Fifth National Climate Assessment
- Co-authored peer-reviewed articles including one on the role of engagement in assessment processes
- Led coordination of the Alaska Climate Adaptation Community of Practice (CoP), a group of practitioners working at the regional, state and federal levels (e.g., state and federal agency representatives, staff from environmental and Tribal nonprofits and researchers) to serve Alaskan communities engaged in climate adaptation efforts.
- Participated in the Alaska Municipal Climate Network, a group of municipal government representatives and community group members interested in local climate adaptation solutions.
- Participated in the NOAA CAP Sustained Assessment Specialists network.
- Supported engagement in the Bristol Bay area.
- Contributed to organization and facilitation of RISA network workshop
- Currently assessing the breadth of economic analyses within the RISA network with a vision of creating a working group
